The Coast of Santalahti

Right to the west of the large indrustial port of Mussalo, on the Mussalo island in the Baltic Sea, there is a small bay called Santalahti. The northern part of Santalahti has a resort, a camping area and a golf course. To the south-west of these is a natural bay that only has a few cottages on the coast, along with a hiking trail. This trail is divided into two paths. The shorter path is the one that leads to the coast of Santalahti. The longer path leads through the forest to the nort of Santalahti. I went to the shorter path and got some pictures from the coast of Santalahti.

The path to the coast

On the path there were a few interesting things before the coast. A large sign that is visible to the sea for boats and a formation of small rocks that was created during the last ice age by ice sheets pushing small rocks.

The coast itself is a combination of rocky ares with some grassy areas in between. The coast only last a few meters at most from the coast. Then the landscape changes into the forest seen in the above pictures. Visible from the coast are small islands in the Baltic Sea on the coast of Finland.

While at the coast, I noticed two large white birds on the opposite side of a bay that I was in. When I wento look closer, they turned out be two swans feeding near the coast. I have heard that swans can be aggressive, but I managed to get really close to these two without bothering them.

On the way away from the coast, the path I was on split into the two parts mentioned earlier. Today I only went to the shorter coastal path, but maybe I will come back to check the longer path later.
