From a nature trail near the Santalahti beaches, the sunset is visible to the east. Because there are no high places in Kotka, the only place to see the sun set to the horizon is from the eastern beaches. This nature trail is one of the rare accessible places from where the view is not blocked by land. There are still some islands and peninsulas that can get into way.

Unfortnately, to horizon today was blocked by clouds so could not see the full sunset. I was expecting the sun to set between an island and an peninsula on the coast. Even more unfortunately, the sun kept moving north too much and went behind the trees of the peninsula before sunset.
