Muuratsalo is an island on the Päijänne Lake in Central Finland with some nature trails going through the island. I took some pictures from a trail at the island during early winter. The trail I walked through went from the residential areas to the Naukula Coast and then to the Hakolanvuori Hill on the island. There was a nice view of the snowy forests from the hill, however getting there was difficult since that part of the trail was covered in snow.
The path to the coast was through a large dirt road, and the trail really started from the Naukula coast. The islands on the other side of the lake were mostly not visible due to snowfall and over the coast. Occasionally they would become visible when the snowfall stopped.

The main parts of the trail going through the forest had been in use, so there was a path in the snow that was easy to walk through.

Getting to the Hakolanvuori Hill was difficult, since the path was almost completely covered in snow. I had walked through this same trail previously in spring, so I knew where the path was. If, however, I had not walked through it before, I would probably not have been able to find the path to the hill. At the hill, there was a nice view of the forests in winter.
