During this winter, I visited the old Olavinlinna Castle in the city of Savonlinna in early morning. I arrived just as the sun was rising and got some nice pictures from the coast of the Pihlajanvesi lake where the castle is located. The temperatures were close to -20 Celsius so I did not stay for too long taking pictures.

First are some pictures I took before sunrise of the islands on the Pihlajanvesi lake.

Then some pictures of the castle and nearby Riihisaari island.

There was a lot of fog at the coast of the Pihlajanvesi lake.

The castle looked very nice in the morning fog.

The sun looked very large when it was just above the lake and islands.
