Bike Ride Along the Aurajoki River in Turku

I took the pictures here while riding a bike along the coast of the Aurajoki River in the city of Turku in Western Finland. The Aurajoki River goes through the middle of the city, and there are many pretty sights along it. During the day there are many restaurants and bars there as well. I rode from near the University of Turku almost to the coast where the river flows in to the sea. These pictures were taken very early in the morning, so there weren’t many people around then.

At the Kasarmialue region, there are many old wooden buildings, many of which are part of a university located there. The Turku cathedral is visible from almost any open space, since it is one of the tallest buildings nearby.

Closer to the center of the city, the river has a bunch of ships converted to restaurants. There are also real ships once you get closer to the coast. On the other side of the river there are buildings with beautiful old architecture and also many modern buildings.
